THE WORLD’S FIRST TREADMILL CHAMPIONSHIP

RUN X is the world’s first World Treadmill Championship: a connected global 5K competition that brings together elite and recreational runners from around the world.

Created by Technogym, a global leader in fitness and wellness innovation, and World Athletics, the international governing body for athletics, RUN X allows participants to compete on a global stage.

The purpose of RUN X is to build a global community of runners brought together by technology and passion, breaking down geographical and other constraints and inspiring people to stay active for a healthier, fitter world.

RUN X aims to give runners around the world the opportunity to experience the excitement of global competition without limits. Through technology, it makes running inclusive and sustainable while going beyond location, weather, and infrastructure constraints.

RUN X is a collaboration between Technogym and World Athletics. Founded in 1983, Technogym is a global leader in products for fitness, sport, health, and wellness and is known for its advanced digital solutions and AI-powered Technogym Ecosystem. Technogym has been the Official Supplier of the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the last 10 games.
World Athletics, founded in 1912, is a prestigious international federation that governs the sport of athletics, including track and field, road running, cross country, and race walking, with over 200 member federations.
Together, Technogym and World Athletics combine technological innovation with global sporting standards to ensure RUN X delivers a credible, authoritative, and unique competitive experience on a worldwide stage.

RUN X is structured in three stages. The first two, Qualifications and Regionals, take place at Official RUN X Centers on compatible Technogym treadmills, while the World Finals are held in-person at an iconic location.

• - Stage 1 – Qualifications: After joining the championship, all runners can enter the Global Leaderboard by completing a certified 5K run on a compatible Technogym treadmill at a RUN X Official Center. Qualifying runs take place on specific Qualification Days.
• - Stage 2 – Regionals: This is the continent-level stage when the top 25% of runners in each category following Qualifications advance to compete for a spot in the World Finals.
• - Stage 3 – World Finals: The in‑person, end‑of‑season event where the top runners in each category following Regionals compete for the world title and a share of the prize pool.

Throughout the year, RUN X participants can complete non-competitive training runs that are ranked on the Open Leaderboard. This always-on leaderboard is designed to extend the RUN X experience, help runners prepare for the competitive phases of the championship, and encourage friendly competition.

RUN X is open to all runners and athletes over 18.

In line with World Athletics standards, runners are divided into categories based on sex, nationality, and age groups. The age categories are:

• 18–23
• 24–35
• 36–45
• 46–55
• 56–65
• 66–75
• 75+

An athlete’s age category is determined by their age on December 31 of the competition year.

You can register for RUN X in one of three ways:

• - On www.runx.org
• - On the Official Center’s app
• - On the console of a RUN X-compatible treadmill

During registration, you’ll create an account and your Runner ID. Once you’re registered, you can select an Official Center where you’ll compete.

Registration for RUN X is free for runners, and there is no entry fee to take part in the competition. However, access to a RUN X Official Center, where runners complete their certified runs during Qualifications and Regionals, may be subject to the fees set by that individual center.

Runners who own a RUN X-compatible treadmill at home can also register for RUN X at no cost and complete training runs remotely to enter the Open Leaderboard. However, competitive certified runs must be completed at an Official Center.

In addition to medals celebrating their achievement, finalists compete for:

• - the title of World Treadmill Champion: the highest RUN X recognition
• - a total prize pool of USD 100,000, awarded to the absolute finalists
• - wild card entries to international events by World Athletics
